I plan to create a 'Professional' version for my software in addition to the "Free version".
I am contemplating whether to create a 'Shareware' or just two separate software for 'Free' and 'Pro' edition.
My concerns are:
1. Will there be a lot of challenges to create a 'Shareware'?
2. How to handle trial expiry to lock 'Pro' features
3. How to handle registration key method to unlock 'Pro features'
4. How to implement security feature to prevent program for being able 'Cracked' easily?
For 'Professional' edition, how does software download sites such as Download.com handle the transaction. Does it work in a way where user made payment via payment gateway, once payment is verified, they will send a normal or generate a unique/secure download link for user to download? Following which, developer will receive the profit after deduction away from the transaction fee?
