I've got a VB.NET project which has been running for over a year now...almost flawlessly. It literally has produced work on an automation of Excel and AutoCAD day in and day out with very little assistance from me. It runs on an XP Pro x32 machine. Over this last weekend there was an automatic Windows update performed and suddenly it has started routinely failing to finish it's work reporting this error message:
The remote procedure call failed. [Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BE]
I have searched for this on the net and found everything from nothing to bad video drivers. The project is being moved off this machine in a few weeks to a Windows 7 x64 VM setup where I hope it will resolve itself. And mainly because in less than 4 months now, Windows XP support all but disappears from the planet and the IT guys have said out with all XP machines by the end of this year.
