VS 2010 Remote Data Extract

Hi everybody,

I am new to VB2010. I just started to pick up real basic stuff from youtube.
I am a assembly language programmer. When I tried out VB last couple of weeks, it
really interest me. I want to start a project and hope you guys can help me how to
start. I am really all I in to learn VB :):)

I want to develop a small program that allows user to extract data from another device.
I am able to do so through .dat file. This program will involve ftp command and so might be
complex. Hope you guys can give me advice where should I start. I would also like to know the
correct way to strengthen my VB programming skills.
