VS 2012 [RESOLVED] Migrated and now can't see any form controls when in design view

Hello: recently migrated from 2005 to 2012. My application seems to be working well; however, when I click on any of the forms to view them in design mode, there's nothing but a blank form there. when i run the forms, I see all the controls. is there a setting that's making it this way?
